Mayor Lewis Reminder to Johnson City Taxpayers to Complete their 2007 STAR Rebate Application.
Property
Taxpayers in Johnson City should have received their
application for the 2007 STAR (School Tax Relief Rebate) Program. The New York State (NYS) Department of
Taxation and Finance mailed the above referenced application during the week of
September 3, 2007. In 2006,
property taxpayers automatically received their rebate checks without the need
to complete an application. The process
has changed and now requires the application to be completed by November
30, 2007 in
order to receive the rebate the check.
“The 2007 STAR rebate is a great program because it provides school
property tax relief in the form of a rebate check. Because the process is different for 2007, I
have asked Village Clerk/Treasurer Tom Augostini to spend as much time that is
needed in assisting Village property taxpayers with the application”, said
Mayor Lewis. “Property taxpayers can
apply via mail or through the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance website. By utilizing the NYS Tax and Finance website,
rebate checks will be processed quicker which is why I have asked
Clerk/Treasurer Augostini to assist in the process”, added Lewis. “Village taxpayers can contact the Village
Clerk/Treasurer at (607) 798-7861 or by e-mail at jcclerk@stny.rr.com to set-up a time in
which Augostini can assist in completing the application on-line”, stated
Lewis. “Applying on line is the quickest
way to receive your refund and the village is willing to assist you” stated Lewis.
